U11 Girls -- Thistle
The Black Watch SC U11G Thistle was a
new team for the 07/08 season, started by Coach Brian Chalmers. As
Black Watch names teams after Scottish related themes, (and the coach's
favorite team, Glasgow Rangers, was already spoken for!), the Thistle
was born. Partick Thistle Football Club are a well know professional
soccer team in Scotland. The Thistle is the national flower of
Scotland, a colorful yet prickly and hardy flower...... Hopefully
our team has some of those characteristics!
The Thistle have started USA league play
and have demonstrated great enthusiasm and steady improvement during the
course of the season. The team and players have completed their first
year of competitive play and attended the Region C cup. They have built
considerable skills, knowledge and teamwork to take them forward into
the 08/09 season. Many of the players will be attending local USF camps
during the summer. They recently had a special practice to work on
their soccer skills with the University of South Florida women's Head
Coach Denise Schulte- Brown and the USF players!
Try outs for 08/09 are posted on the
main website, and sessions for U11G and U12G will be held. Hopefully
we can build a U11G team to follow behind the Thistle!
"The only thing stronger than myself
is my team, GO Thistle!"
